Firefly Radio Core

Thank you for volunteering for Radio Core! Your work will help us keep track of the equipment that all Cores need to function. Thanks to you, not only will we (hopefully) get our entire Radio deposit back, we’ll have a much better idea of the supplies that we need in order to keep Ops running smoothly! This year (and last), we’re trying out having radios in more places around the event. This means that there should be fewer radios in Radio HQ, and inventory might feel a little silly! With your help, in the future, we’ll be able to rent the exact right number of radios!

Radio HQ is located behind the Rangers Tent - go around towards First Aid and it will be the white pop-up connected to Rangers.

Core Tasks

  1. Fill out the Radio Inventory Checklist
    1. Go through all Radios (Charged/Low Batt/Whatever) in Radio HQ and mark off which Radios are present during your shift. Make sure all Radios are Turned OFF
    2. Review the Check-Out sheet and any Radio assigned to a Core should be considered accounted for (marked off)
    3. Review the Check-Out sheet and any Radio NOT assigned to a Core should be considered NOT accounted for (DO NOT mark off - these will be reconciled by a different volunteer shift / end of the event)
  2. Make sure any Radios/Batteries in the “Uncharged” bin are placed on chargers
    1. Solid Green light = Charged and should be placed in the “Charged” bin
    2. Red light = Needs to continue charging
  3. Organize the “Accessories” bin and make sure the Radio Reference Card Lanyards are untangled / easy to access for people checking out Radios.
  4. Check in on the radios at Gate, Upper Parking, Sanctuary, and Kitchen. You are welcome to go in person, but it’s also totally fine to call them and check in (You may use any of the radios to do so) for any issues.
  5. Stop by DPW HQ to check in on their radios and the radios on the Polarises for any issues.
  6. If there any problems that need addressing, leave a note and (attempt to) radio Dox on Channel 1 (INFO) or Channel 2 (DPW) to let me know that you have left a message

These tasks might be able to be completed far before the end of your 4 hour shift. Once you have completed the above, feel free to go enjoy the event! HOWEVER, please stop back in periodically to swap out radios / batteries that need charging!

If you have time / feel like it

  1. Check in on Sanctuary, Medical, and DPW to see if they need anything
  2. Add any suggestions for improvements to the “Suggestion Log” in the Radio binder

Finally…

Thank you for volunteering!!
