Perimeter Lead Responsibilities
Perimeter Core keeps people out of the fire at our burns!
- Train Perimeter volunteers
- Set expectations (Perimeter volunteers must be sober and unaltered during the burns)
- Managing volunteers during the burns
- Get radios for the quad leads, and so a short radio training session
- Manage radio comms during the burn
- Determine perimeter distance or with with other leads to determine it (Art, Fire, Event Ops)
- Decide whether it is safe to burn, in collaboration with other leads.
- When Fire Safety makes the call to drop perimeter, notify Perimeter volunteers.
Who makes a good Perimeter Lead?
Location
Planning can happen from anywhere. Must attend the event and both burns.

Works during effigy burn and temple burn.
Experience
Should have attended a burn before.
Skills
- ability to train people
- ability to herd a group of 20-25 people for the effigy burn and 15-20 for the temple burn
- good enough understanding of fire to judge how big the perimeter needs to be given the effigy and weather
