Art Truck Lead Responsibilities

Art Truck makes the Art Truck happen! The Art Truck is a large box truck (usually 26' long) which is not affiliated with a specific camp, and hauls art to and from the event.

Core leads:

  • rent the truck
  • either drive it or make sure a competent volunteer drives it
  • make sure the community knows that the truck exists
  • schedule truck load and unload
  • collect information about who will be using the truck so that we get the right size and generally pack things in a sensible way.

Who makes a good Art Truck Lead?

Location

At least one core lead should be present during all of truck load and unload.

This is historically somewhere in Somerville.

Schedule

Some emails in the month before the event.

A lot of time the weekend before and the weekend after the event.

The truck generally has early arrival, and is one of the last vehicles to leave the event.

Minimal responsibilities during the middle part of the event.

Experience

Firefly experience is helpful, but you could probably be fine without it.

Skills

  • Ability to respond to emails in a timely manner.
  • Ability to drive at 26' box truck (does not require a CDL)
  • Strong spatial reasoning and the ability to keep track of whose objects are where
  • The ability to tie some cool rigging in the back of the truck is helpful

(Historically, we have needed multiple core leads to cover this set of skills)
