Sound Core Lead Responsibilities

Sound Core keeps our sound within neighbor-friendly limits so that Firefly doesn't get shut down!

  • Recruit sound core members
  • Patrol the event with sound meters, sometimes walking out to the road or driving up and down the street to get a sense of sound levels at the neighbor's houses.
  • Record infringements
  • Collect and organize the data given to them from Sound Core volunteers as well as from their own patrols, and use it to give camps feedback about their performance.
  • Participate in the daily management huddle during the event, checking in daily in order to discuss how the prior night went.
  • Escalate to the board if there are serious and/or repeat volume transgressions.
  • If the cops show up, it is on Sound Core leads to get the sound camps shut down, spreading the word to the board/gnomes leads/ranger leads and going direct to the camps to halt the music. Because of the potential for interfacing with local law enforcement, there is an element of sobriety involved with being on duty.
